Quilt

Our medium and our message.

On this website lives a diverse, online collection of quilt art. All works display a focus on preserving our American democracy, our Constitutional and moral values, and our place in the world — in response to the previous, disastrous administration. We hope this site provides touchstones that inspire advocacy and engagement.

Why quilts? What could be better than using the medium of coverings for the bed — our environment of birth, sleep or sleeplessness, dreams, cuddling and intimacy, sickness and recovery, dying and death? Art in the medium of quilting can be soft, nurturing, non-threatening, warm and welcoming, persuasive. It can uplift, rally, galvanize, mobilize. It can also resist, protest, satirize, parody, lampoon. It can be gentle or bold, personal or public, therapeutic or galvanizing for change.

If you wish to purchase artwork shown here or feature an image to illustrate a progressive political statement or issue-driven campaign, please get in touch with the artist for discussion and permissions.
