Those “Love Me Do” daisies inspired me to share my good luck charm, something we all need. Especially now, as we hear that President 45 has scheduled his first international trip while in office: to Saudi Arabia, Israel, and the Vatican. He boasts that as a deal-maker, he will quickly bring peace to the middle east. How scary is that! Accordingly, here’s a traditional middle-eastern symbol called a hamsa. Jews know it as the hand of Miriam; Muslims know it as the hand of Fatima. Very often, the image of an eye in the center of the hamsa denotes its power to ward off the “evil eye.” I chose to plant a Black-Eyed Susan in the center of my hamsa. My piece is made with recycled foil-lined tea bag envelopes, coffee bags, plastic mesh, eco-felt, satin cord, and buttons. Drink some more tea and coffee, open your eyes, heed the need to reduce, reuse, and recycle, look out for Mother Earth. Happy Mother’s Day–which needs to be every day! And stay tuned for further terrifying “diplomacy” from a seriously ill-informed Administration.
