This piece was commissioned by The Migrant Quilt Project to honor those who died crossing the border last year. It is made in part with clothing discarded at the border. TMQP requires that the name of each person who died while crossing, or, in the case of unidentified bodies, the word desconocido (unknown in Spanish) be included on the quilt. The work features Fr. Kino, the first European to visit the area.
