This piece recognizes the struggle of Mandela who was imprisoned for many years because of his fight for freedom. The quilt shows a map of South Africa and Mandela’s traditional raised fist, but dripping with blood from his protest. The surrounding sea is red from the blood that was shed. There is almost always loss of life in the fight for freedom.
