I have been reading about the use of they as a singular pronoun by many trans individuals rather than he or she. My thinking for this piece was a monogrammed towel as a simple gesture of welcome and acceptance. I chose the floral background fabric to try to elicit wallpaper. The dark gray/black strip at the bottom was meant to be the counter top which I chose to leave empty (thought of adding soap, hair brush, etc but decided not to do so). I quilted pronouns (he, she, they, his, hers, theirs) among the background flowers.
